Job Interview Answer To “Tell Me About Yourself"

For some, this is the most challenging question to answer, as they wonder what the interviewer really wants to know and what information they should include. Always remember that the interviewer wants to know you as a professional in abc and not you as a person. It is a great mistake to say something along the lines of, “I’ve got 3 kids, I love to swim, hardworking e.tc.
All the interviewer is really asking you is, “Why do you feel you are a good fit for this job?” Set yourself in their minds as a great candidate. Your answer should be short, concise, frank, but compelling outline of your relevant work experience, your education or credentials and a positive statement of expectancy.
You should craft your answer to include:
1.A brief summary of your personal details: You have to give your name, and where you are from.
2. Education: Give your educational or professional qualifications or and any relevant miscellaneous educational qualifications that you might have amassed.
3. Summary of your career history – This includes relevant professional experience from previous job experiences, an example of one career accomplishment
4. Summary of what you want next in your career that’s relevant to the position at hand
Interview 2Sample Answer:
“My name is Mary Wanjiku, I hold a degree in Business Administration and have attended several trainings on Customer Service Management.
I have been in the customer service industry for the past five years. My most recent experience has been handling incoming calls in the high tech industry. One reason I particularly enjoy this industry, and the challenges that go along with it, is the opportunity to connect with people. In my last job, I formed some significant customer relationships resulting in a 30 percent increase in sales in a matter of months.”
My real strength is my attention to detail. I pride myself on my reputation for following through and meeting deadlines. When I commit to doing something, I make sure it gets done, and on time. I am now looking for a company that values customer relations, where I can join a strong team and have a positive impact on customer retention and sales.”

Married nearly 66 years, Ohio couple dies on same day

Married couple dies on same day

(CNN) -- They met in elementary school, began a romance during World War II and married not long afterward. They had a lifelong devotion to each other as husband and wife that lasted nearly 66 years -- and one day earlier this month they died, just 11 hours apart.
Their children call it their "final act of love."
Harold Knapke, 91, and his wife, Ruth, 89, died August 11 at the Versailles Health Care Center nursing home in Russia, Ohio, spokeswoman Teresa Pohlmon said.
Their children said they were nine days short of their 66th wedding anniversary.
"It's consoling to us that they went together," said their daughter, Margaret Knapke. "On one hand it's difficult to lose both parents at once when you didn't see it coming ... but it's very consoling that they got to go together."
According to Margaret, her father's health had been deteriorating more quickly than her mother's for about a year.
"We would ask, 'Why is he still here?'" Margaret said. "And the answer was that he was here for Mom."
"He loved her very dearly. He was extremely loyal. He wanted to be here with her," she added. "He would sleep all day toward the end but when he'd wake the first thing he'd ask is, 'Where's your mother? How's your mother?'"
Margaret said Ruth contracted a rare infection shortly before her death and it was clear she was not going to recover. When Margaret and her siblings told her father the news, she recalled, he took it calmly but they saw a "shift" in him.
Just a few days later, Margaret and one of her sisters noticed that their father appeared to be very ill, she said.
"My sister said, 'It's almost like he's trying to catch up to Mom.'"
Three days later, Harold died, at 7:30 a.m.
"I think he realized what was happening and wanted to pave the way for her," the couple's son, Ted Knapke, said.
After their father died, the Knapke children surrounded their mother -- who was not lucid -- and told her, "Dad's up there waiting. They got the card game going and it's time you got up there. Don't stick around for us," Ted Knapke said.
Ruth Knapke died that night, at 6:30 p.m.
"I think certainly when two people are that close for 66 years you become pretty in sync mentally. So regardless of their state I think they realized it was time," Ted Knapke said.
Ruth and Harold Knapke met when they were students at the same elementary school in Ohio but were separated when Harold's family moved several towns away, according to Carol Romie, another daughter of the Knapkes.
"Dad was a year ahead of Mom and I remember Mom would tell us, 'I had a crush on your dad when I was in the third grade,'" Margaret Knapke said.
It wasn't until Harold was serving in World War II and stationed in Germany that their relationship began. Ruth's brother-in-law Steve, who was also serving, overheard that Harold was from the same county in Ohio as Ruth and suggested that Harold write to her.
Their relationship grew from there, according to their daughter Ginny Reindl.
"Mom knew who he was right away," Margaret Knapke said of her mother's reaction to the letter. The two continued to write each other until Harold returned from the war in 1945.
The couple married two years later, on August 20, 1947, and had six children together: Carol, Pat, Margaret, Ginny, Ted and Tim. Harold worked in Ohio's Fort Recovery school system as a principal, teacher and coach and Ruth became a school secretary.
"I guess to me, the most important part of the story was their dedication to each other -- loyal right to the end," Romie said. "Supportive and protective of each other, and that was the beautiful part. They worked at being married for 65 years. It didn't just happen. They went into it with the idea that this was forever, and it was. They made it that way."
The two were laid to rest together in a joint funeral.
"Mom and Dad were ordinary people," Reindl said. "I guess if people can learn from our story it's that there is love that lasts, and that's a good thing."

Egyptian girl with two heads and one body.

We all have heard of twins, identical twins and even conjoined twins for that matter. But ever heard of a pair of twins out of which one baby just had a head and no body? Also that the under developed twin's head blinked and smiled but wasn't capable of survival. Well this was the case of Manar Maged. The Egyptian girl was born with a birth defect called craniopagus parasiticus. This is a very rare birth glitch that occurs when the embryo splits into two parts but refuses to complete the process leaving its twin with loads of brain diseases. Manar was operated with a team of 13 surgeons on 19 February 2005 when she was 10 months old to separate her conjoined twin. The procedure being complex and ambiguous the surgery lasted 13 long hours. The little kid though survived the surgery and subsequent brain operations but eventually died an year later on 25 March 2006 due to excessive brain infection, pneumonia and serious heart condition.

What Separates The Successful & Failures: Fixer V/s Complainer

Everybody’s got problems they wish they didn’t have. Except most people don’t WANT help. Some time ago, I realized a distinction between the kinds of people who are out there. I started telling this to anyone who brought me a problem but seemed reluctant about taking my advice or even their own if I helped them tease out what they thought they should do. The distinction is this:
“There are only two kinds of people, when it comes to problems. The people who FIX their problems, and the people who COMPLAIN about their problems.”
People who are “fixers” are eternally devoted to figuring out what their problems are, and solving them. They might not always tackle those problems from the right angle, and they might be guilty of deluding themselves about what those problems are at times, but you can get through to them with reason if you try hard enough. They usually are willing to set aside pride, admit that the failure is theirs, and go start learning how to fix it.
People who are “complainers” are eternally devoted to seeking emotional salves for their problems. There’s a big difference between “solves” and “salves.” Complainers feel bad, but they don’t want to fix that feeling bad by fixing the problem. They just want someone to pat them on the back, tell them, “There, there, you’re doing everything right, it’s just things outside your control that made it this way,” and then they’ll feel better. But because the problems are never fixed, they need this forever. They spend a lifetime of people listening to their complaints, telling them it isn’t their fault, and blaming the world for being an uncaring, unjust place.
Now, everybody complains. I complain.
The difference between a fixer and a complainer is that a fixer then immediately says, “Okay, everything that’s wrong in my life is my fault, what do I need to change to have a better life?” while a complainer NEVER says this, or says this but then doesn’t take action to change anything, and simply goes on complaining forever
I’m sure that seems like a lot, and it might be a tall order. But mastery, while uncommon, is not so rare that you can’t find examples of others who’ve mastered whatever it is you want to master.
You can. There are examples everywhere. Mastery is something that’s becoming more and more common as knowledge explodes all over the world and more and more people start unlocking the keys to the process of how to master whatever it is they want to master.
You might’ve read this article and thought to yourself, “I am WAY too happy just living a normal life to worry about all this mastery malarkey.”
In which case, I envy you, in a way. To not be burdened with demons driving you is, perhaps, a certain kind of freedom in its own right.
Or you might’ve read this article and thought to yourself, “Why should *I* have to change? It’s all those other people who don’t get it who are the problem!” If that’s the case, I actually don’t have any envy there, because that’s a very frustrating and inevitably unfulfilling life path to end up on – the world and all its inhabitants are never going to stop doing things the way they do them and start doing them a totally different way simply to satisfy the desires of one disgruntled citizen.
But you might just have read this article and thought to yourself, “This is EXACTLY what I want to be doing with…!”
And if that’s the case, well… that’s why I wrote it.
Happy mastering.

Ways on How You Can Invest In Yourself To Achieve Success

Are you busy looking for success everywhere except the one place you can truly find it? Does life seem like a futile chasing after the rainbow?
One possible reason for this could be that you are not looking for success in the right place. It is not in the environment around us or the circumstances we face that we find success, but in ourselves.
The simple fact is that if you are successful within, in your mind, you will be successful on the outside as well. It may seem too simple thing, but it is something we often forget when the pressures of life surround and overwhelm us. When it comes to making everyday choices it usually does not occur to us.
Here are several ways as how you can invest in yourself
1.Invest in yourself – knowledge is a huge asset
Knowledge is a powerful asset. It makes the difference between living in abundance and living in lack. The only difference between the managing director in a company and the messenger in the same company is their knowledge. The MD knows something the messenger doesn’t. That is why he earns a hundred times more than she does.
It is what you know that will bring you success. It’s what you don’t know that will cause you to fail. Why then, do some get it so wrong? For example many people look for promotions without acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge they need to be promoted.
Many business people are struggling because they just won’t take the time to learn about accounting, marketing and all that goes with doing business. That’s like trying to drive a car without first putting in the fuel.
2.Invest in yourself – ways to invest in you
There are many ways to invest in yourself. One way is to make it a habit to buy books regularly. Not just any books, of-course, but books that will challenge you and from which you can learn something. Biographies of other successful people, “how-to” books, self-improvement books and professional books such as accounting or public speaking books are examples.
Investing your time and money in learning things such as goal-setting, how to manage your time, how to be more confident and less doubtful, how to be a better speaker, how to adjust your thinking, create new habits and squash bad ones, how to take care of your health, how to focus and so can greatly improve your results in life.
3.Invest in yourself – the value of self-education
The point is that you determine how and what you learn as well as how fast you learn. Self-education is important beyond the classroom. In the real world self-education matters a whole lot more than formal education. There are plenty of people with a formal education that are still struggling.
Knowledge, then, is a powerful asset, and one which you should always be seeking to improve and build upon in the pursuit of your dreams. The Proverbs declare that “through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
4.Invest in yourself – conclusion
Become addicted to continuous improvement and increase in your knowledge consistently and constantly. With time, you will inevitably become the person that you desire to be. Then you will no longer have to chase after success. Success will follow you. Your mind will become magnetized to attract success.
You are all you can be. Go on and be it.

Job Search Secrets Of Getting Hired Faster

by Angela Wahome,
Job searching alone is like walking on a deserted path alone in the pitch black darkness of the night, you never know what to expect; besides will you get to where you are hoping to be? Ever feel imprisoned by a job where you feel you do not have enough satisfaction, you are not advancing or you are not able to have a future when you look for a job. Basically you are stuck in a rut.
Moving can become difficult when you have worked in any of the following fields; worked in job that you did not use your key skills, you are too specialised, you failed to plan for the future, you waited and waited for the perfect job, you have been in a job position (which offered no challenge or growth) with the same company for a very long time. Here is what you may do to get back into the workforce.
1.Know the job market. Locate and identify job market great needs that you can fill. Search out emerging industries. Grow up and lose the idea that there will be a secure job that is competitive.
2. Know your functional and industry options and employers’ needs in these areas. Pinpoint your top three positioning career focused alternatives to what you’re now doing. Find the types of organizations/Biasharas that serve that market segment.
3. Know your most marketable skills, competency, and relevant background. Create a personal brand make sure you identify and use the things that make you unique and stand out. You will outshine your competitors. Think of how you can catch the attention of the employer that will hire you.
4. Learn how to get and do well in interviews. Find three main strategies that will help expose you and penetrate the job market for the advertised and unadvertised jobs that exist. Once you have identified what you need to do it is important that you should continue to do them in a consistent way.
5. Understand how to created information about you that sells you as a solution. Make good use of the knowledge you have of the people that would be interested in you and find a way to have them see what they will be looking for in you.
6. Know how to multiply your access to those who have the power to hire. Networking can be a bit of a challenge. You may choose to building strategic relationships with people that may be in the position to hire you.
7. Name and shame the part of you that puts you down. When you find that you are putting yourself down, listen, say “Thank you for sharing,” and then keep putting one foot in front of the other to make sure that you need to keep doing what you need to do to get moving in the right direction.
8. A professionally-run job search will get you there faster. It gives you defined direction and leverage to compare, negotiate, and deal from strength.
Try to imagine the alternative; walking blindly in the dark at the mercy of fate, now do you see why it is not wise to take the trip alone. Enlist all the people you feel can help you begin to find a way how to make a living.

Meet Paulo Machado, the man who has lived in hospital for 45 years

Paulo Henrique Machado has lived almost his entire life in hospital. As a baby he suffered infantile paralysis brought on by polio, and he is still hooked up to an artificial respirator 24 hours a day.
But despite this, he has trained as a computer animator and is now creating a television series about his life.
The Brazilian's first memories are of exploring thehospital he has lived in for 45 years by wheelchair."I explored up and down the corridors, going into the rooms of other children that were here - that is how I discovered my 'universe'," he says.
"For me, playing football or with normal toys wasn't an option, so it was more about using my imagination."
Machado's mother died when he was two days old, and as a baby he contracted polio - the result of one of the last big outbreaks of the disease in Brazil.
Ligia Marcia Fizeto, Machado's nursing assistant, began working in the hospital - Sao Paulo's Clinicas - shortly after he arrived.
"It was very sad to see all those children, all lying there immobilised in their beds, or with very little movement," she says.
In the 1970s, children with polio were encased in a "torpedo" - a body-encasing iron lung - and doctors at the hospital gave grim assessments of the children's prospects. Few in the "polio ward" were expected to reach adolescence - their life expectancy was just 10 years.
With very limited mobility, Machado's world formed around the friends he made on the ward.
"There was me, Eliana, Pedrinho, Anderson, Claudia, Luciana and Tania. They were here for a good length of time too, more than 10 years," he says.
With the innocence of childhood, he never imagined that they would be parted. But by 1992, some of the children had begun to deteriorate - one by one, his friends began to die.

"It was difficult," says Machado. "Each loss was like a dismembering, you know, physical… like a mutilation," he says. "Now, there's just two of us left - me and Eliana."
Doctors don't quite understand why the pair outlived their peers by so long, but now every day in the ward, Machado wakes up with his bed facing that of his remaining friend and lifelong neighbour, Eliana Zagui. He says their relationship is crucial. "Some people think we are like husband and wife, but we are more like brother and sister," he says.
I opened the car door and saw the sea and thought 'Wow! What is this!”
"Every day, when I wake up I have the certainty that my strength is over there - Eliana. And it's reciprocated. I trust her and she trusts me."
Despite this the two fight virtually every day, Machado says with a laugh. "I think that's normal between brother and sisters or a couple. But it's not an argument where one side feels offended, you end up reflecting and think, 'OK, I forgive you'," he says.
The danger of infection means that they have to live inhospital. Trips outside are rare but memorable, says Machado, who estimates that he has been outside of the hospital at least 50 times in total, more in recent years.
Advances in medical technology mean that going out involves less heavy equipment and less medical supervision - and as they have got older, Zagui and Machado are prepared to take more risks.
