Position: Bank Tellers / Customer Service Representatives

Branch: Mombasa

A leading bank in Kenya is seeking to recruit the best Talent for Teller and Customer Service representative roles for their coastal branches.
The suitable candidate should:
  • Be a native of the Coastal region
  • Have worked in a similar role or had a front office/call Centre role for at least 6 months
  • Be a Graduate with ambition to advance
  • Crisp clear accent
  • Good command of English, Swahili, any other language will be an added advantage
  • KCSE mean grade C+ (plus), with a C+ (plus) in both Mathematics and English
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication skills and people skills
  • Preferably below 28 years of age
  • Computer proficient
Role entails but not limited to;
  • Accurately and efficiently make cash payments in a way that maximizes customer satisfaction, meeting daily transaction targets
  • Preparing cash for repatriation
  • Balance currency, coin, and cheques in cash drawers and calculate daily transactions
  • Cash cheques and pay out money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds.
  • Receive cheques and cash for deposit, verify amounts and authenticity of currency, and check accuracy of deposit slips. Examine cheques for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of the persons receiving payments and the legality of the documents.
  • Post customers’ transactions in order to record transactions and issue duly stamped receipts for the same and ensure daily balancing
  • Arrange monies received in cash boxes and coin dispensers according to denomination.
  • Batching together all entries and filing them.
  • Ensuring at close of the day the cash tallies to the system balances.

  • Receiving of outward and in-house cheques

General Description of task(s) and objectives to be achieved
Under the overall guidance of the officer in charge  (O.I.C) FAO Somalia and the direct supervision of the Head of Unit and/ Finance officer. The  Junior Finance Assistant will perform the following duties:
  • Play an operational and Office Assistant role to FAO programmes and subjects and projects and performs a variety of administrative functions of the officer.
  • Analyze payment workloads by project and maintain  the petty cash account for the OSU.
  • Develop and maintain the payment schedule to ensure as even a distribution as possible of payments throughout the month.
  • Receive money vendor invoices, follow up directly with concern staff members on all outstanding of more than 30 days and arrange the salary recovery after 90 days.
  • Operate GRMS (Global Resource Management System) financial transactions on the Oracle Based Enterprise Resource planning system for FAO.
  • Manage payroll deductions for UNSACCO  and medical insurance premiums.
  • Manage the UNHAS account and corresponding cash book.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and  Accounts receivable
  • Manage payment and Recovery of salary and operational advances
  • Act as a focal point between the bank and the office
  • Perform Bank reconciliations and prepare cheques and Bank transfers
  • Maintain the filling system of technical and administrative documents and correspondence.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Key performance indicators
Minimum requirements:
  • Education:
  • Secondary school education. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Commerce will be an advantage.
  • Work Experience:
  • Two years of clerical, administrative or accounting experience.
  • Strong skills in basic computer packages-Knowledge in Word, Excel, Access, and Oracle .
  • Languages:
  • Working knowledge (level C) of the FAO official language used for communication within the country (English, French or Spanish) and working knowledge of the local language (Kiswahili) is required.
  • IT Skills:
  • Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Exchange) etc. Ability to use accounting software and other information systems and databases to insert data, make enquiries, retrieve/define ad hoc reports and analyses and edit results in appropriate format.
  • Office Management Skills:
  • Systematic, well structured and efficient approach to work assignments. Analytical ability, accuracy and consistency. Exercise diligence and care in dealing with records and expenditures.
  • Interpersonal Communications and Teamwork Skills:
  • The incumbent must possess a cooperative spirit, flexibility and openness to work in an international environment. Tact and courtesy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural background.
  • High degree of self-motivation and initiative. Willingness to learn and apply new analytical approaches.
